as i mentioned in my last post, i have been undergoing a lot of internal and external changes and although all the ones i listed previously were positive, a couple big, big negative changes have taken up most of my brain for the past couple weeks. the first is that my brother left for college on last thursday...i still haven't fully comprehended that he's actually gone, but he is. the second is a bit more life changing-my parents have decided to call it quits. now that i've explained what's been going on, let's stop dwelling on the negative and start focusing on the bright side of things.
sure, i've had a few pretty bad days, days where i can't get out from bed, days when all i wanna do is cry, days when all i wanna do is scream, and even days when i don't feel anything-just completely numb to the world around me.
i've been focusing on trying to step back and really take the time to appreciate and be grateful for all the little things i have in life; really realize to the full extent of when i feel happy, why i feel happy and take note of that moment.
this post is going to be one of many, simply talking about my little pieces of happiness-whether it be a tangible item or a figurative idea, all of these have something in common: they make me happy.

1. sunrises
i've posted alot of pictures from this day, but it was truly magical. i've been to the beach once more since this day to watch the sunrise and the beauty had not faded at all. watch my video from this day here.
2. watermelon socks + platform sandals
my little sister gifted me these watermelon socks for my 16th birthday. i love how fun and colorful they are and paired with a pair of platformed sandals you get such a unique and interesting look.
3. jimi hendrix

4. messy braids
braiding your hair before going to bed and then waking up is a win-win situation because you can either leave them (like this) for a super adorable messy look or take them out for natural looking beach waves! i added this head band from forever 21 to spice up the look.
5. the wildlife refuge
found this beautiful (and extremely large) grasshopper while exploring our local wildlife refuge yesterday.
6. bowling alleys
i went to a bowling alley for the first time in a really long time on friday night. i forgot how much fun it can be to gather up a group of your friends and go play a round or two. also the retro vibes are incredible.
7. film cameras
taking a photo and not knowing how it's going to turn out and the excitement of waiting for it to get developed it magical. i'm also learning the ways of the dark room as i am taking photography 1 this year at school, i'm so excited to explore this art form and see where it takes me. (the picture directly above & below were taken on film cameras)
to be continued...
